Parafencing

Our Adaptive Program

All individuals, regardless of background, has the right to participate in sport and live an active lifestyle. Currently in the United States, less than half of the disabled population participates in aerobic activities. Lack of aerobic exercise can cause increase health issues and reduce quality of life in individuals. Adaptive sports have been linked with improved quality of life in individuals with disabilities.

Wheelchair fencing (para-fencing) is a highly adaptable sport that challenges both the mind and body.

We currently offer private lessons in all three weapons and integrated epee class lessons.

Statement of Intent:

Our program goal is to provide athletic opportunities to disabled members of our community. Individuals with disabilities can be just as athletic as abled-bodied athletes and deserve equal access to sport.

Vision:

That all disabled individuals will have opportunities to participate in sports like the rest of their peers.
